My first dabbling in web design took the form of a redesign for a band called A R I Z O N A’s website. The original site was pretty dysfunctional and not very user friendly, so I decided to see what I could make of it. I started by cleaning up their logo a bit and putting a fresh spin on the overused “sans-serif font with wide tracking” that their original logo featured. From there, I found images of the band members that seem to promote the band’s aesthetic composition and laid them out front and center in the homepage. Since music is an aural experience, I thought it would be a good idea to feature a visual representation of the bands. This way, fans, or people trying to learn more about the band will be able to put a face to what they are hearing. I added a few more elements, like a seamless concrete background and a more simplified menu and was left with a simple, but functional design centered around user experience.
